Happy Black History 2025!
P.S. Illustration by THE Daphne Frances Livingstone!!!
Hi People!
This is our SEVENTH year sharing our Little Livingstone Black History Card!
I THINK you'll get it in Februrary. If not, you know what it is:
We celebrate Black History Month ALL YEAR LONG!
Drop us a line and let us know how you're doing.
Alistair is now 7 and in second grade. He still loves animals, Pokemon, watching people find axolotls and play video games on YouTube (facepalm), Roblox, and, you've got it-- annoying Daphne. He loves soccer, basketball, outdoor tennis, and still hits us off with the occasional gymnastics/ninja show.
Daphne is 10 and in 5th grade - double digits (OMG!). She still loves drawing on Procreate, reading, correcting us, telling Alistair how adorable he is, 'hangouts' with her girls (often involving plots of some entrepreneurial pursuit), and has just started ice skating lessons! Daphne is now 1 inch shorter than Alliah... she's still 32 years younger, though. She also blessed us with the family portrait on this year's card!
LeVaur is still a grown man, and now has 4-5 jobs (Again, #Jamaicans). In addition to his 8-5 and 5-8 (do the math 🙃), he's the owner of Hammond Paving/Everline Newark, a franchise of Everline Coatings, and has been providing parking lot maintenance/sweeping, pothole filling, line striping, seal coating, and more to businesses, government agencies, and occasional residences around northern new Jersey and beyond.
Alliah is a year older than she was last year (or, you can do the math from Daphne's post), and grateful for it. She somehow has four books coming out this spring 😵💫, and continues to be in awe of this path. Her tenth book, Scarecited on the First Day of School will release June 3, and gets to the heart of the first book she wrote that really made her feel like this kidlit thing may be something she needs to do.
P.S. She is trying her best not to be overwhelmed by all of the challenges the current administration is trying to make, including banning books like hers and many of her author friends- books that show the true diversity and joy that exists in our world. Authors appreciate whatever you can to support them - whether suggesting or borrowing our books from libraries, buying them for classrooms and gifts, or recommending authors for speaking engagements at schools, organizations, and corporations- it all makes a a difference.
Above All - God is Good!!!
If you're ever in the Montclair area, hit us up, but we'd love to know how you're doing.
